Coming to Base

Today everything is off-chain. Two things are coming to Base: USDC rooms in The Tank and the CROAKZ skin collection. Both stay switched off until they are ready.

Neither is live yet and there is no launch date. This page explains how they work, not when they open. Follow @croakzgg for the announcement.

USDC rooms

Same Tank, same rules. The difference: entries are in USDC and the pot is held by a smart contract, not by us.

The escrow flow

Step	Who	What happens
1. Create	CROAKZ operator	A room is opened on the contract for an approved entry amount.
2. Join	You	Your entry moves from your wallet into the contract. Either approve USDC then join, or sign a permit and join in a single transaction. One wallet can join a room once.
3. Leave	You	Before the room is locked, leave and get your full entry back.
4. Lock	CROAKZ operator	When the match starts on the game server, the room is locked. It needs at least 2 players. No more joining or leaving.
5. Settle	Anyone	The resolver signs the result. Anyone can submit that signature. The contract pays the winner the pot minus the rake and sends the rake to the treasury.
6. Refund	Anyone	If a locked room is not settled within 1 hour, anyone can trigger a refund. Every player gets their full entry back.

A room that never fills can also be cancelled by the operator before it locks. Everyone gets refunded.

What the contract checks on settle

• The signature comes from the resolver address. It is an EIP-712 typed signature over the room, the winner and a deadline.
• The deadline has not passed.
• The winner actually joined that room. The pot can only go to a player who was in it.
• The rake is taken at the current rate, and that rate can never go above 10%. The cap is written into the contract.

The rake in USDC rooms

In Teeth rooms the rake is burned. In USDC rooms it goes to the CROAKZ treasury. It is hard capped at 10% of the pot by the contract.

USDC entry amounts and the rake rate for USDC rooms will be announced. The only fixed number is the 10% ceiling in the contract.

Trust model: the resolver

Plain version, no fine print.

The winner of a USDC room is decided by the CROAKZ game server. The result is then signed by one key, the resolver, operated by CROAKZ. The contract pays whoever the resolver says won.

What the resolver cannot do

• Send the pot to someone who was not in the room.
• Take more than the 10% rake cap.
• Keep your entry forever. If no valid result is submitted within 1 hour of the lock, anyone can refund every player.

What the resolver can do

• Name the wrong winner, by bug or by abuse. The contract cannot tell. It trusts the signature.

Other admin powers

The contract owner can pause new rooms and new joins, change the operator, resolver and treasury addresses, change the rake below the cap, and approve entry amounts. Pausing never blocks the way out: leave, settle and refund keep working while paused.

This is a centralised point of trust. If that is a deal breaker for you, stick to Free and Teeth rooms. No hard feelings.

Gas

Base charges gas in ETH, so you need a little ETH on Base to approve and join. USDC is moved only through its standard ERC-20 interface. The contract never takes ETH as an entry.

CROAKZ skins

An NFT collection on Base. Minted in USDC.

• ERC-721, with a fixed maximum supply.
• Allowlist phase first, then a public phase.
• A limit per wallet.
• Traits become exclusive cosmetics in the game. Still no gameplay advantage. A rare fin is a rare fin, not a faster one.

There is no $CROAKZ token today and none has been designed. If someone offers you one, it is not ours.

Where USDC rooms are available

Rooms where players put in USDC and the winner takes the pot can fall under gambling rules in some countries. USDC rooms may be unavailable in your region, and access can be restricted by location.
